Apprenticeship

A structured path to bring young people into your company

The professional apprenticeship is a permanent employment contract that combines on-the-job work with structured training and is designed to support young people in achieving a formally recognised professional qualification.

It includes an individual training plan, the presence of a company tutor, and a clearly defined growth path from the moment of hiring, in compliance with Legislative Decree no. 81/2015.

For companies that have already hosted a young person through an extracurricular internship, this contract represents the natural next step in the journey:

  • the internship makes it possible to observe skills and potential;
  • the apprenticeship allows what has been learned to be consolidated, ensuring a stable contractual framework and a well-defined training project.

This model guarantees continuity in the employment relationship, reduces uncertainty, and makes it possible to accompany young people from an initial orientation experience to a true and structured professional entry.

ORIENTA'S SUPPORT FOR COMPANIES: HOW IT WORKS AND WHAT IT INCLUDES

Orienta is an employment agency that supports companies in a comprehensive way, facilitating every stage of the process and ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable collective labour agreements (CCNLs).

Training programmes

Orienta manages the entire training and documentation process, including:

  • drafting the Individual Training Plan (an integral part of the employment contract);
  • defining training content consistent with the job role;
  • preparing the educational project for the transition from internship to apprenticeship.

Administrative and regulatory management

Apprenticeships require specific compliance obligations, which Orienta can manage directly on behalf of the company, including:

  • mandatory notifications;
  • contracts and documentation;
  • job classification and contract duration;
  • monitoring of training obligations;
  • coordination of tutors (both the company tutor and the agency tutor).

This allows companies to focus on their core business activities, avoiding bureaucratic complexity.

Guaranteed mandatory training

The professional apprenticeship includes two types of mandatory training:

🔹 Basic and transversal training (mandatory)

Basic and transversal training within the apprenticeship framework is a mandatory training pathway under Italian apprenticeship contracts, aimed at developing skills that are common across all sectors.

It covers foundational knowledge such as workplace health and safety, employees’ rights and duties, company organisation, communication skills, and digital competencies.

This training is not linked to a specific job role but is intended to improve the apprentice’s employability and integration into the workplace.

The duration and delivery methods are defined at regional level, based on the apprentice’s educational qualifications.

Orienta, together with the company, is responsible for ensuring proper compliance with basic and transversal training, which may be delivered:

  • in-house, if the company has recognised “training capacity”;
  • through Orienta Direct, with qualified trainers and a virtual classroom.

🔹 Professional training (on the job)

Professional (on-the-job) training takes place directly in the workplace and is recorded in specific training registers. It is aimed at developing the technical and operational skills related to the apprentice’s role.

Through close supervision by a tutor (a company employee with equal or higher job level and at least 12 months of experience in the relevant field), the apprentice acquires practical skills, professional know-how, and role-specific competencies, immediately applying what they learn.

On-the-job training is a core element of the apprenticeship and plays a key role in professional development and long-term integration within the company.

Access to Forma.Temp funding

Thanks to Orienta’s training programme design, companies can benefit from the Forma.TempFund, which allows them to:

  • finance basic and transversal training;
  • finance technical and professional training;
  • receive hourly reimbursements for training delivered by internal staff;
  • reduce or eliminate the costs associated with delivering the training required under the Individual Training Plan.

Continuous coordination and quality control during the apprenticeship

Orienta ensures structured and ongoing management the apprenticeship through continuous coordination and quality control activities, which are essential to guarantee training effectiveness and full regulatory compliance.

This integrated approach supports both the company and the apprentice at every stage, enhancing the value of the training plan and facilitating the achievement of professional goals.

In particular, Orienta provides:

  • continuous monitoring of the apprentice and training documentation;
  • ongoing coordination with the company tutor;
  • verification that the activities are aligned with the Individual Training Plan;
  • orderly, traceable and compliant management of the entire apprenticeship pathway.
